Mount Bachelor is getting its first new chairlift in 20 years. Welcome Cloudchaser.

The high-speed detachable quad chairlift adds 635 acres to lift served terrain, making Mount Bachelor the 5th largest ski area in the United States

This helps alleviate lift line congestion on weekends and holidays. The new lift will give skiers and boarders coming down from the summit an opportunity to get back to mid-mountain without hiking or adding traffic to Rainbow Chair, which just happens to be the slowest chair lift on the mountain.

Locals and tourists have been clamoring for a new lift at Mount Bachelor and our wishes are coming true this summer when Mount Bachelor will install a new high-speed quad on the east side in a contract with lift manufacturer Doppelmayer according to an email from the mountain.

The lift will be named Cloudchaser, a reference that Tom Lomax, director of mountain operations, came up with to give tribute to the unique weather characteristics the mountain creates when clouds suddenly disappear as they wrap around the summit.

Cloudchaser will bring mountain guests 1448 vertical feet giving them access to 6.2 miles of groomed runs. Mount Bachelor is holding a celebration on Saturday May 7th (with free skiing) to commemorate the awesome news.
